It was last Saturday when Trail Blazers big man Jusuf Nurkic announced on his Instagram that his grandmother passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.

As Game 1 tipped off against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Bosnian Beast got off to a quick start. He notched a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in just 10 minutes of action as the Blazers took a commanding lead, 30-17.

Nurkic is also honoring his late grandmother with customized Nike kicks in Game 1 with his grandma's name printed on the shoes.

It was over two weeks ago when Nurkic shared that his grandma, who resided in Bosnia, had tested positive for the coronavirus and was in a coma.

Hana told Nurkic about the contraction of the virus while on Facetime with her grandson.

Nurkic has been doing a little bit of everything so far in Game 1, even handling the point guard duties.
