Justin Verlander and Kate Upton officially marry in Italy

How’s your week going? Probably not as well as Justin Verlander’s, or Kate Upton’s for that matter.

The happy couple were officially married in Italy, TMZ reported on Saturday. The vows were exchanged less than three full days after Verlander earned his first World Series ring with the Houston Astros.

Because of the wedding, Verlander was forced to miss the team’s championship parade in Houston on Friday. That’s a signature moment for any championship team, and his absence drew some criticism from a select group of people. Most, though, were understanding of the circumstances. You can’t just plan a wedding in Italy and change it, after all.

Here are a few details from the TMZ report:

The famous supermodel and pitcher were both beaming after saying their “I dos” Saturday at an old church at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort in Italy. The wedding party looked pretty small — close friends and family.

The couple has been together since 2014. They announced their engagement shortly before the 2016 season, and all things considered couldn’t have picked a better time to have the wedding if you’re into fairytale endings.
