Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy expected to miss cut at Genesis Invitational

Things didn’t go as planned in Pacific Palisades this week for Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy.

Both golfers are expected to miss the cut at the Genesis Invitational.

Thomas shot rounds of 77-73 in the first two rounds to finish 36 holes at 8 over while McIlroy carded a 73 and 76 respectively to finish at 7 over at Riviera Country Club. McIlroy, who had a streak of 25 cuts made entering this week, last missed a cut during the 2019 British Open.

Thomas last missed a cut at the 2020 Travelers Championship and had a steak of 14 cuts made. This season, Thomas has not finished any of his seven events outside of the top 13. His Thursday scorecard had three double bogeys and he had another double on Friday. He had six birdies over two rounds.
