Just how effective is Boston Celtics big man Luke Kornet’s unorthodox ‘eclipse’ defense?

At first people chuckled when they saw it, but then they took a closer look, and on so doing, it is looking increasngly like the “Kornet Kontest,” “Korntest,” or as the man Luke himself calls it, the “eclipse,” is actually very effective at styming an opponent’s shot from beyond the arc.

Luke Kornet’s unusual perimeter defense approach he has deployed this season with the Boston Celtics actually has an interesting origin story from the Vanderbilt alum’s first stint with the team under then-head coach Brad Stevens. Kornet has since put his own spin on the execution of the unorthodox defense, which some of since shown to be fairly effective.
