Junior hockey: Wilderness to open NAHL playoffs in Bismarck

May 21—The Minnesota Wilderness open a best-of-five North American Hockey League playoff series at Bismarck beginning Friday night.

The Wilderness split eight games against the Bobcats during the regular season, winning the season-ending series 3-1 and 4-1 in Cloquet last weekend to sneak past Austin by two points to claim a playoff berth.

Bismarck finished second in the Central Division, 10 points ahead of Minnesota.

Grant Docter led the Wilderness in goals (18) and points (40) during the regular season. Jacob Herter of Hermantown had 24 points, former Greenway star Donte Lawson had 23 and Christian Galatz had 16 points playing in his home rink.

Game 2 is Saturday night in Bismarck, with the series shifting to Northwoods Credit Union Arena for Game 3 on Tuesday.
