JUCO basketball: Warriors debut at No. 14
Oct. 25—OTTUMWA — The Indian Hills men's basketball team will open the season at No. 14 in the preseason National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I men's basketball poll, announced by the national committee Monday afternoon. The Warriors received 168 points in the preseason poll.
Under first-year head coach Josh Sash, the Warriors are coming off a run to the NJCAA DI Men's Basketball Final Four in Hutchinson, Kansas. Indian Hills posted a 29-5 overall record during the 2022-23 campaign on its way to the team's seventh all-time top-four finish at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
This year's preseason poll, topped by Northwest Florida State College, features six programs ranked inside the top-20 that appear on Indian Hills' schedule this year, including four of the top-six programs. The Warriors will travel to Northwest Florida State on Nov. 14 in Niceville. The Warriors will also host No. 2 South Plains College as well as defending national champs and preseason fourth-ranked John A. Logan College at the RV & Power Sport Classic inside the Hellyer Center Dec. 1 and 2.
The Warriors will also match up with No. 6 Vincennes University twice, No. 10 College of Southern Idaho and a pair of contests against No. 20 Moberly Area Community College. Indian Hills will take on long-time league foe Southeastern Community College, ranked No. 12 in the preseason poll, in a pair of Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) contests during the second part of the regular season.
The Warriors are set to kick off their season Nov. 7 with a road trip to McCook Community College in Nebraska.
