In an offseason with multiple All-American honors, being named to numerous award watch lists and shooting up mock drafts, UNC football wide receiver Josh Downs was named to the 2022 preseason All-ACC team on Wednesday.

Downs led all ACC players with 128 total votes. He also received 56 votes as a special teams specialist.

Downs has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch list and Maxwell Award Watch lists this summer.

In 2021, Downs had a record-setting season for the Tar Heels. He had a single-season program-record 101 receptions and 1,355 receiving yards, both records. He also scored a touchdown in eight-straight games, one short of the school record. He led the ACC and ranked fifth nationally in receptions and was second in the league and 11th nationally in receiving yards.

He was also named a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist a season ago.

Downs is projected as a first or second round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in early mock drafts.

Wake Forest wide receiver A.T. Perry and Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers were the other two players selected to the All-ACC team at the position.
