The 2022 Major League Baseball first-year player draft took place July 17–19 in Los Angeles, California.

The 2022 MLB draft was 20 rounds. Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello served as a Major League Baseball Network analyst during the first round.

Ten student-athletes on the Vols’ 2022 roster were selected during the MLB draft.

Tennessee junior right fielder Jordan Beck was selected by Colorado 38th overall.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Beck recorded 18 home runs, 61 RBIs, 70 runs, 75 hits, 15 doubles, three triples, 37 walks and six stolen bases in 66 games during the 2022 season at Tennessee.

Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline detailed Beck signing with Colorado.

“Supplemental first-rounder Jordan Beck signs with Rockies for $2.2 million (slot 38 value = $2,052,300),” Callis announced. “Lots of Hunter Renfroe comps, 6-foot-3, 225 (pound) athlete with well above-average raw power and solid speed.”
