Musician John Lydon shouted at Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid for interrupting him as he voiced his support for President Donald Trump.

The former Sex Pistols frontman – known on stage as Johnny Rotten – fervently defended his desire for Trump to win the US election and a second term in office, insisting he believes the billionaire businessman is “the only hope”.

Lydon, 64, who now lives in California, told the breakfast show: “I'm working class English, it makes complete sense to me to vote for a person who talks about my kind of people.

“The media in America, it’s liberal, liberal minded it proclaims to be, it’s only really basically liberal with the truth.

“They tow the line of the Democratic Party with the assumption they know best but they don’t know nothing about say, blue collar workers, Latinos, African Americans in or outside of large cities…

“Now Trump is not a politician and he’s never claimed to be. How unusually, exceptionally wonderful is that for people like me, working class people. We are bored of your intellectual left wing ideas we can’t take much more of you. You talk such twaddle… you just miss the point of who the general population are.”

When Reid said: “But what about his rudeness? What about his obnoxiousness?”, Lydon shouted at her: “No, let me finish.”

He added: “It [the system] does nothing for these people and that’s why they now support him so loyally. Because he’s the only hope. You can call him a narcissist, you can call him nasty but he’s the only hope."

Lydon described living in such a liberal state as: “Hell on earth… it’s chaotic and it’s dogma led… the politics of left wing is utter ‘confusionism’… they hate real workers.”

Trump, 74, is running against Democratic rival Joe Biden, 77, to remain in office as president of the United States.

With a record number of votes cast and still being counted the close result is still waiting to be called.
