If you live in Colorado, you see John Elway on your television screen. A lot.
Elway is the most famous person in the state. For good reason. He is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. He has been heavily involved in all three Broncos Super Bowls, two as a player and one as a general manager. And he hawks a lot of products.
That’s not unusual. It just looked bad this week when he did a media tour for Endo Pharmaceuticals, considering the team he runs is 0-3.
John Elway makes media appearances
Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic listed some of Elway’s appearances and the topics he discussed.
John Elway went on another media blitz today as part of his endorsement deal with Endo Pharmaceuticals.
Had some interesting comments about Antonio Brown and Tom Brady (WEEI), NFL officiating (Clay Travis’ show) and his “level of patience” with the Broncos (Doug Gottlieb Show).

Elway has been sharing his battle with Dupuytren's contracture, a hand condition. He has made media appearances to discuss it in partnership with Endo Pharmaceuticals.
It’s unusual for a general manager to be on a media tour for a sponsor during the season. If the Broncos were 3-0, it’s probable nobody would notice.
Broncos off to bad start
The Broncos have had a tough start to the season. They looked terrible in Week 1 against Oakland, lost on a last-second field goal to the Bears and then turnovers ruined them in a loss to the Packers. The defense, which was supposed to be among the NFL’s best, is the first to not record a sack or force a turnover in three straight games dating back to 1982, when sacks became an official statistic.
Elway did a great job building the Super Bowl 50 championship team that won despite Peyton Manning being a shell of himself. He has had numerous missteps since then, especially in his quest to find a quarterback. The Broncos are coming off back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 1971-72, and it looks like a third straight losing season is likely. Fans are losing patience with Elway, the most iconic figure in Broncos history.
Elway’s decisions over the past few years have been questioned. He might have made another questionable decision this week.
