Joey Wendle making instant impact for Marlins

Drew Silva explains how Miami Marlins 2B Joey Wendle can be a useful infield option for any fantasy team.

Video Transcript

DREW SILVA: It was an under the radar off season pickup, but the Marlins have to feel great about what they've seen so far from trade acquisition, Joey Wendle. He's usually one of those players that carries far more real life value than fantasy value, but Wendle is providing production on all fronts this year in the early going.

As of the first day of May, the 32-year-old infielder is showing a .300 batting average, .364 on base percentage, and . 814 OPS through his first 66 plate appearances. Within that slash line is one home run, six doubles, and also a four for four ledger on stolen bases. Wendle has mostly hit sixth or seventh for Marlins manager Don Mattingly, but he's sure to jump up if this ride continues at its current pace. And with Yahoo eligibility at second base, third base and shortstop, he can cover a lot of the holes on any given fantasy roster.
