Joe Tippmann: 3 things to know about New York Jets No. 43 pick in 2023 NFL Draft

There weren't any guards or centers taken in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. Some big boys should will come off big boards on Day 2.

The New York Jets selected Wisconsin center Joe Tippmann with the No. 43 overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Here are three things to know about Tippmann.

He has a mullet

Tippman is big, strong and athletic

Tippman is taller than a typical center at 6-foot-6 and 313 pounds. He bench pressed 30 reps at 225 pounds at his pro day and is agile. Tippmann is a mauler with great range. One of Tippmann's most coveted assets is an intangible: He's thought to be one of the most intelligent lineman in the draft. NFL.com rated him the No. 1 overall center prospect this year.

  • Hand: 10 3/4"

He already knew one of the NFL's best lineman in high school

One of Tippmann's favorite lineman while growing up in Fort Wayne, Indiana was Dallas Cowboys guard Zac Martin. And Tippman met Martin multiple times. Martin is married to Tippmann's friend's sister.
