Joe Gibbs Racing brings Daytona 500 trophy to Steak 'n Shake after Denny Hamlin's win

Joe Gibbs is a man of his word.

The NASCAR team owner ended his post-Daytona 500 news conference with a pledge that his team was going to Steak ‘n Shake to celebrate Denny Hamlin’s Daytona 500 victory. And sure enough, the team showed up at the restaurant down the road from Daytona International Speedway late Sunday night. And they even brought the Harley J. Earl trophy.

The win was Joe Gibbs Racing’s third Daytona 500 victory. The team’s post-500 Steak ‘n Shake tradition began in 1993 after Dale Jarrett won the 500 for the team’s first NASCAR win. JGR didn’t make a post-500 trip to Steak ‘n Shake again until 2016, when Hamlin won the closest Daytona 500 over Martin Truex Jr.
