‘Jingle Hoops’ ad creatively showcases the NBA’s heinous sleeved Christmas Day jerseys (Video)

That there's Derrick Rose, modeling the special sleeved jersey he and the rest of the Chicago Bulls will wear on Christmas Day as part of the NBA's annual Christmas mega-holiday hoopstravaganza. Every player on each of the 10 teams participating in the Dec. 25 quintuple-header will be rocking the sleeves-and-big-logo look, and while the tops themselves still strike my eye (and maybe yours, too) as fairly awful, the new holiday-themed commercial the NBA has cooked up to promote the day's games and showcase the Adidas gear still stands up pretty darn well:

It wasn't going to be easy to top last winter's "Carol of the Balls" dribbling chorus, but employing Rose, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors sniper Stephen Curry, Houston Rockets guard James Harden, Los Angeles Lakers marksman Steve Nash and four-time NBA MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat — all of whom will be in action during the five-game slate (well, we hope Nash will) — to make the nets play "Jingle Bells" is a worthy successor.

If you don't like the commercial, though, you're probably going to get a little miffed over the next six weeks. Per Adidas' press release:

Beginning today, “Jingle Hoops” will be live on the league’s digital platforms and will air across the league’s national broadcast partners ABC, ESPN, TNT and NBA TV, as well as its regional sports networks. In an effort to reach basketball fans around the world, the NBA will also air international versions of the spot in key regions including China, Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Africa, and the Middle East.

Translation: Anywhere and everywhere you look for basketball stuff, you're going to be seeing a lot of "Jingle Hoops" between now and late December. Prepare accordingly.

The release also trumpets the "BIG Logo" look as "an innovative new uniform design" that "will provide a unique look oncourt and a variety of products for our fans." As long as we're on-board with using "unique" as a polite euphemism — e.g., "This is some unique-tasting fruitcake you've made, Jerome" — then sure, whatever's clever.

The five-game Christmas Day slate will kick off with the Bulls visiting the Brooklyn Nets at noon (all times Eastern), followed by Thunder at Knicks at 2:30 p.m. As we move west, the Lakers will host the Heat at 5 p.m., followed by the Rockets visiting the Spurs in a Texas tilt at 8 p.m. The Clippers head up to Oakland to take on the Warriors in the 10:30 p.m. nightcap, which ought to provide plenty of offensive fireworks to keep us awake after all that holiday ham, all those Christmas cookies and a metric ton of eggnog.

And if not, at least we can make like Iman Shumpert, get comfy and snuggle up into our pajamas.

Oh, wait. That's the jersey. Nevermind.
