Jimmies men's hockey shuts out Midland 3-0

Feb. 3—FREMONT, Neb. — The Univerisity of Jamestown men's hockey team got their second consecutive shutout in a 3-0 win over Midland University on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Warrriors' Sidner Ice Arena.

The Jimmies' Phil Lessard opened the scoring at the 5:50 mark of the first period to give his team the 1-0 lead. The score would stay that way until late in the third when the Jimmies' Brayden Michalchuk scored his second of the season to push the lead out to 2-0. With just under a minute to go, the Jimmies (20-8) turned to their captain to put the game away as Greg Susisnki scored to push the lead out to 3-0.

After the Warriors (9-19) outshot the Jimmies 18-10 in the second period, the Jimmies held their opponents to only three shots on goal in the final period as they outshot them 17-3 for a game total of 45-35.

The Jimmies are back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, when they go to the University of Mary.
