Jimmies baseball swept in 'home' doubleheader at Midland

Mar. 21—FREMONT, Neb. — The University of Jamestown baseball team gave up five runs in the fifth inning in an 8-3 loss to Midland University on Thursday, March 21, at the Warriors' Moller Field.

After the Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the fourth, the Jimmies' Ryan Muizelaar hit an RBI single to tie the game 2-2 heading into the fifth inninb.

In the fifth inning, the Warriors scored five runs on three hits and four Jimmies errors to take a 7-2 lead. The Warriors added another run in the sixth before a Jimmies sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 8-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

The Jimmies left 12 runners on base in a 4-3 loss to the Warriors in the second game of the doubleheader.

The Warriors (18-6, 4-2) opened the scoring early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning before Muizelaar continued his big day at the plate with an RBI single to score Alex Alva and cut the deficit to 2-1. The score would stay that way until the fourth inning when Alva hit a single to score Jett Nelson and load the bases with one out. However back-to-back strikeouts would follow to end the Jimmies (18-6, 4-2) threat.

The Warriors hit a home run in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead before the Jimmies tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. The score would stay that way until the ninth inning when the Warriors' Jacob Liquori hit an RBI single to push his team in front 4-3.

The Jimmies return to the field at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 29, when they go to Doane University.
