Jim Kelly's wife announces Hall of Famer is cancer-free once again
First-round draft pick and hopeful franchise quarterback Josh Allen signing his contract in time for the start of training camp wasn’t the only good news the Buffalo Bills and their fans got on Wednesday.
They also got word that franchise legend Jim Kelly has once against successfully beaten back cancer.
‘Double thumbs up!’
Jill Kelly, the wife of Jim Kelly, posted a photo of her husband and one of his brothers to her Instagram account on Wednesday morning, the two men in what appears to be a medical office.

“Double thumbs up! MRI and CTScans are clear,” Jill Kelly wrote. “Still working through major pain management, but PRAISE THE LORD, no evidence of cancer.
“And can I just say, Jim’s brothers are amazing! I’ve watched them stand with Jim in good times and bad. I’ve witnessed a love between siblings that is remarkable. What a blessing to be part of such an amazing family. Thank you Pat, Ray, Ed, Danny and Kevin for being an example of what a loving, devoted family should look like. Add your humor and faith to the mix and we have everything we need. Love you guys so much!”
The positive update comes roughly four months after it was announced that Jim Kelly’s cancer had returned.
Third fight in five years
This recurrence marks the third time in the last five years that Kelly has fought cancer.
He underwent 12 hours of surgery in New York City on March 28 to remove oral cancer and rebuild his upper jaw.
About six weeks later, Kelly was in Buffalo to surprise the team’s rookie class at their mini-camp. He chatted with Allen, who told reporters he was “shaking” when the two met before retreating to the locker room for a private conversation.
Kelly was honored with the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs last week, and in an emotional speech he urged the audience in the arena and watching to be a difference-maker for others and remembered his late son Hunter, who died at 8-years-old from Krabbe Disease.
