Jets vs. Patriots inactives: Tevin Coleman, C.J. Mosley out for New York

The Jets will be without three key pieces against the Patriots in Week 7, as Tevin Coleman, Tyler Kroft are inactive for New York’s trip to New England.

Coleman injured his hamstring in practice on Friday, while Mosley has been dealing with a hamstring injury since the end of the Jets’ Week 5 loss to the Falcons. Kroft was ruled out with a back injury earlier in the week and has not played since Week 4.

Mosley’s absence leaves a hole in the middle of New York’s defense, which will be filled by rookie Jamien Sherwood. Mike LaFleur’s backfield should be in good shape even without Coleman, as Michael Carter and Ty Johnson have shouldered more of the load in recent weeks. Ryan Griffin will get the start at tight end, with Daniel Brown, Trevon Wesco and Kenny Yeboah working behind him.

Denzel Mims gets the nod at wide receiver over Jeff Smith, as the Jets were left with a decision to make with seven healthy wideouts on the roster. Mims had his best game of the season against Atlanta, catching two passes for 33 yards in limited action.

As for the Patriots, they will be without star linebacker Dont’a Hightower and running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who scored a touchdown in New England’s overtime loss to the Cowboys last weekend. Starting cornerback Jonathan Jones is also out after landing on injured reserve during the week.
