Jets' Sam Darnold working out in group with Bills' Josh Allen amid coronavirus outbreak: report

Jets QB Sam Darnold and Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will always be linked, as the two were taken just four picks apart in the top seven of the 2018 NFL Draft, with both landing in the AFC East.

And now, with the sports world on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, the two are paired together once again.

According to a report from Albert Breer of The MMQB, Darnold, Allen, and new Washington Redskins quarterback Kyle Allen are all working out together in Southern California.

Per Breer, with parks and fields closed, the trio of NFL QBs are working out on the beach as part of a "seven-person quarantine" that also includes throwing coach and former NFL quarterback Jordan Palmer.

"The quarterbacks wake up every day and, because all the parks and fields around them are shut down, go throw on the beach by Darnold's house," writes Breer. "After that, they'll go back to the house, eat lunch, play cards, watch TV, play some more cards and eventually watch movies at night. The biggest problems, really, are losing the chance to work with the rehab guy they'd been using, and fighting boredom."

Through two NFL seasons, Josh Allen has a 15-12 record as a starter, but he saw a big uptick in his stats in his second season, throwing for 3,089 yards, 20 touchdowns to just nine interceptions, while completing 58.8 percent of his passes. The dual-threat QB also rushed for 510 yards and nine more touchdowns during the regular season.

By comparison, Darnold nearly matched Allen in 2019 passing yards with 3,024, despite the fact that he only played in 13 games due to an early-season mono diagnosis. Allen did lead the Bills to a Wild Card playoff spot in 2019, and while the Bills lost to Houston, leading the Jets to the playoffs is something that Darnold is yet to accomplish.
