The Buffalo Bills have faced former first-round pick Shaq Lawson in the past. Another round of that will not be happening in Week 18.

Ahead of heading to Highmark Stadium for their season finale, the New York Jets (4-12) released Lawson on Saturday.

The pass rusher was a first rounder for the Bills in 2016. In addition to Lawson being cut, so was safety Sharrod Neasman.

Lawson was traded by the Houston Texans during the offseason to New York.

After Lawson’s Bills career ended, he originally signed with the Miami Dolphins but was eventually traded to the Texans.

According to Jets Wire, releasing Lawson saves the Jets $9 million in cap space in 2022.

In New York’s last game vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lawson was a healthy scratch.

If Lawson clears waivers, he is free to sign with any team heading into the post season. Including the Bills.
