The Jets named Mepham High School's Sofia LaSpina their H.S. Player of the Week Presented by Gatorade, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 15-year-old wide receiver became the first female to score a touchdown in a Long Island varsity football game on Sept. 18 when she made a four-yard reception in Mepham's 49-21 win over Roslyn.

She now will receive a $1,000 donation from the Jets to support her high school football program.

LaSpina finished the game with three receptions for 45 yards. Mepham is now 2-0 on the season and will face off against Glen Cove at home on Sept. 25 at 2:00 p.m.
