Jets head coach Adam Gase revealed on Thursday that CB Brian Poole will need season-ending surgery on his shoulder.

Poole had already been placed on the IR earlier this week, but now he will miss the remaining six games on the schedule.

Poole has been one of the best cover corners in the league despite the Jets' bad defense. Now it's likely that Arthur Maulet will step into the slot. The Jets also picked up Corey Ballentine after the Giants cut him, and he has experience. in the slot with New York.

Also on the injury list, though, was CB Bless Austin who is dealing with a neck injury and will undergo an MRI to see what the issue is. The sophomore corner has been starting opposite Pierre Desir, who was cut himself after struggling this season.

If Austin can't play, then the Jets will really be hurting in the secondary and Gregg Williams will have to rely on his depth. With a Los Angeles Chargers team that loves to heave the ball downfield with Justin Herbert under center, this has the makings of a bad matchup for Gang Green.
