Philadelphia 76ers fans have had it rough for the past few years, waiting for The Process to be complete as their team tanked its way to a handful of lottery picks, so apparently they’re launching a new fan interaction program, where players sit on your child’s lap for a portion of the game.

Midway through the second quarter of Thursday night’s thrilling game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Sixers guard Jerryd Bayless tried to save an errant Ben Simmons dunk and ended up crashing between a father and son sitting in the front row, so he stayed and hung out with the boy for a little while:

It comes complete with a large man’s backside in your face, an elbow to your eye, a soda poured into your lap and a head run, which is cool. You just don’t get that kind of customer service everywhere.

Even the NBA on TNT broadcasters are in on the action, as Reggie Miller spent the next few minutes talking about how cool the kid was going to be in school the next day and how he could ask the prettiest girl in school to the holiday dance, so this new program is a real confidence booster, too. The boy’s phone did blow up almost immediately, with text messages starting to pour in from friends.

You too can be part of the program for the low, low price of $500 a ticket. Kudos to that dad for giving his son an experience he’ll never forget. And well done by Bayless for really giving them their money’s worth. I wonder if you have to pay extra to get Joel Embiid to dive into your chest at full speed.
