Jenks takes third place at Primus Moore Invitational

Jan. 6—Jenks and Will Rogers squared off Saturday in the Primus Moore Invitational third-place game, where the Lady Trojans using a fourth-quarter blast to win 60-43.

A hard-fought battle ensued from the opening tip, with Jenks holding on to an 11-8 lead after the opening quarter. The intensity continued down the stretch, with the Lady Trojans leading 28-22 at the half.

Both teams came out determined in the second half, trading blows on the scoreboard. By the time the horn sounded, Jenks held to a 41-35 lead. It was a fight to the finish, with the Lady xxx taking the win.


Muskogee and Durant battled Saturday in the consolation title game at the Primus Moore Invitational in McAlester, where the Lady Lions used a last-minute bucket to win 39-38.

It was a back-and-forth battle to start the game, with Durant holding a 13-10 lead after the opening period. Much of the same followed in the second quarter, with the Lady Roughers rattling off a run to lead 22-20 at the break.

Coming out of the locker room, both teams looked to find an edge. By the third quarter's final buzzer, it'd be Muskogee holding on to the 35-28 lead.

It would go down to the wire, but the go-ahead bucket by Iyana Wilson with under 60 seconds to play gave Durant the 39-38 win.

Wilson led Durant with 10 points, followed by Ella Sorrels and Abrianna Freeman with seven points each, Sydney Grover with five points, Maya Dodson with three points, and Kenedy LaFevers with two points.

Malaysia Burton led Muskogee with 21 points, followed by Eleesha Lee with six points, D'Mya Brown with four points, Aniyah Thomas with three points, and JJ Gandy and Jayda Wordlow with two points each.


Shawnee and Southeast faced off in the seventh-place game Saturday at the Primus Moore Invitational in McAlester, where the Lady Wolves powered to the 66-22 win.

Shawnee got to work quickly behind 15 first-quarter points from Daley Rice on the way to a 29-8 lead heading into the second. There, Tarilyn Thierry exploded offensively, leading the charge to a 46-11 Lady Wolves advantage at the break.

With the game in hand, Shawnee rode the minutes out to the win.

Thierry and Rice both finished with 17 points each for Shawnee, Allyson McAlister with eight points, Tylyn Thurman and Chrishelle Milum with six points each, Serenity Casteel with four points, Abigail Clements with three points, and Kiley Sartin with two points.

Ana Martinez led Southeast with 10 points, Kyrah Davis had six points, Isela Sarabia finished with 5 points, and Isela Sarabia with three points.
