Mar. 9—Staff Report

On the first day of the Division II indoor national track and field meet, T.J. Skinner advanced in his running event.

The Jefferson graduate made it to the finals today following a first-round time of 7.88 seconds in the 60 hurdles at Pittsburg State in Kansas.

"Prelim day was definitely a success," Skinner said. "I've been talking with my coach a lot about how if I run what I did to get here, I'll be in a great spot.

"I ended up running close to my seed time, which ended up giving me my first shot at winning a national title."

Skinner is scheduled to run in the event's final at 6 p.m.

"I'm looking forward to hitting the track [today] and fighting for that top spot," he said.
