Jay Glazer says Commanders will trade ‘at least’ one defensive lineman before deadline

It could be a busy week for the Washington Commanders. The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET. The rumors are swirling that the Commanders could be sellers ahead of the deadline. The players Washington has received the most inquiries on, at least that we know of, are defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

According to NFL insider Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, at least one of Washington’s four star defensive linemen will be moved.

“So Washington, they have three defensive linemen,” Glazer said. “Jonathan Allen came out this past week and said he wants out of Washington, pretty much.”

First, let’s be clear with all due respect to Glazer: Allen never said that. He was frustrated, which he expressed after the game and the day after on his weekly appearance with the “Sports Junkies.”

“Look, there is rumors out there that the Chicago Bears have a deal for Chase Young; that is not true,” Glazer continued. “I don’t even think that one is going to happen. But I will tell you this: there’s a lot of teams that called Washington for all three of those players. At least one of those D-Linemen will get moved this week. And they’re looking Chase Young, a two-plus (2nd-round pick and more), three-plus (3rd-round pick and more), something along those lines. But, so somebody is going to get one of those players.”

Here’s the full exchange:

Glazer is one of the NFL’s more respected insiders, but Adam Schefter of ESPN said Saturday that Allen would not be moved.

The Commanders also received trade inquiries on Jonathan Allen after the defensive tackle’s postgame eruption after last Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants, but Washington said it is not willing to deal him and wouldn’t even have the conversation with other teams, according to sources.

The biggest question is, should Sunday’s outcome change Washington’s plans? If you’re clear this version of the Commanders isn’t a championship team, then you should look for value for any players on existing contracts.

Buckle up.
