Jarren Duran blossoming into strong fantasy asset

Jarren Duran has blossomed into a solid fantasy contributor after an underwhelming debut last season and should continue to provide value moving forward.

- Jarren Duran was regarded as one of the top outfield prospects in baseball before his call up in 2021. But to put it bluntly, he didn't look ready to be an MLB player. He got a second chance, as most prospects do, this summer. And he's more than reminded why so many were so high on his talents. The 25-year-old picked up four hits and stole two bases against the Guardians on Saturday. And after adding two more hits on Sunday, he entered the week slashing an impressive .327/.386/.500 over 13 games.

While he hasn't homered yet, he's been able to contribute to the extra base hit category with five doubles and two triples. And there's easy plus power in his left-handed bat that suggests stingers will come soon. He ranks in the 93rd percentile in sprint speed. So when he gets on base, he'll always be a threat to steal a bag or two as well. It's a small sample. And it's natural to be a little apprehensive about Duran considering how poorly he played last year. This looks like a different player, however. And those who need help in the outfield should jump on the Duran bandwagon while they still can.
