Janarion Grant named to the Maxwell Award watch list

Earlier today, Rutgers senior wide receiver Janarion Grant was named to the Maxwell Award watch list. er was named to that watch list. Every year, the Maxwell Award is handed out to the top college football player in the nation.

The recent recipients of the award include Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Alabama running back Derrick Henry and Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The Maxwell Award has been given out annually since 1937 and the last time it went to a wide receiver was in 1991 when Michigan's Desmon Howard earned that honor. Howard was well known for being a return specialist as well as being a stellar wide receiver.

Grant was on pace to out up career numbers last year before his season was cut short following an injury in game No.4 against Iowa. For his career, Grant has five kick returns for touchdowns and three punts returns for touchdowns.
