KRYSTEN PEEK: I'm Krysten Peek joined by the number 2 pick in the draft, James Wiseman, who's heading to the Warriors. James, congratulations. What was the conversation like with the front office, and how are they saying you're going to come in and get them back to a championship-caliber team?

JAMES WISEMAN: Just coming in just be ready to win, and be ready to work hard, and just be ready to just learn under the best, Steph-- Steph and just Klay Thompson and Draymond Green-- a lot of great players on that team. So I'm ready to go in there and learn, just stay humble, and just work my tail off every day.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I know I saw how emotional you are when you finally heard your name called. What is this entire process been like, especially with all the delays?

JAMES WISEMAN: Man, it's been hard for me because just-- like, because I texted my teammates at college every day. And man, it's just hard because I wanted to actually play with them. But now, just being on a team to where oh, I can finally play now. It's just like, I'm just lost in words. I just can't talk right now.

But yeah, I'm just happy because I can finally play. I can finally showcase my ability and just go out there and just play hard. So I'm truly excited.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Obviously, there was some breaking news right before the draft with Klay Thompson going down with an injury. Did you see the news, and did it weigh on your mind at all whether or not it would affect the pick at number 2?

JAMES WISEMAN: I mean, it weighed on my mind a lot. All prayers be to my teammate, Klay Thompson. We will get through this, and we will push through this.

But, I mean, I seen it before the first pick was announced. And man, but emotionally, like, he's going to be fine, and our team's going to be fine. And I'm just ready to go in there again and just work hard and just learn as much possible just to grow my game.

KRYSTEN PEEK: All right, and it's been a year since you played a game. How excited are you to get back on the court? And what are some of your goals for your rookie year?

JAMES WISEMAN: I'm very excited. I've been playing like a lot of pick-up games with pros like, during my pre-draft process when I was able to under the measures of COVID and stuff. But really, man, I just can't wait to go in there.

I mean, I'm truly excited, and I can't wait to go play. And I'm just ready to compete and just work-- and just work my tail off and just try to learn every day. So I'm truly excited.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Well, we can't wait to see you on the court either, James. Thank you so much for the time, and congratulations. And for continual coverage on the NBA draft, keep it here on Yahoo Sports.
