TAMPA, Fla. (AP) All-Star center Joel Embiid didn't get his hands on the ball much in the first half Tuesday night, but his Philadelphia teammates made the Toronto Raptors pay in the 76ers' 109-102 victory. Tobias Harris scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter after the 76ers built a big early lead with long-range shooting, ending Toronto's four-game winning streak. ''I thought we had a chance for a high-scoring game when they took the ball out of Joel's hands, but I thought our guys played well,'' Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers said.
After 10 games without a true center, the Warriors welcomed back James Wiseman and Kevon Looney. Both played big roles in the win over the Knicks.
Shareholders of Kohl's Corporation (NYSE: KSS) stock are poised to benefit from the tug-of-war between the company’s board and an activist investor group, according to BofA Securities. The Kohl's Analyst: Lorraine Hutchinson maintained a Buy rating for Kohl's while raising the price target from $60 to $70. The Kohl's Thesis: Given the “push for better performance,” there seems to be limited downside to the company’s stock, Hutchinson said in the note. The analyst noted that an investor group, which has a 9.5% stake in Kohl’s, has nominated nine independent candidates for election to the board, due to poor strategy and execution. “We do see opportunities for better execution around sales strategies, further SG&A reductions and faster shareholder returns. In addition, adding new expertise to the Board could help with the recovery,” Hutchinson said. KSS Price Action: After rising about 9% in Monday's session, shares of Kohl’s had declined by 1% to $55.55 at the time of publication Tuesday. Edey Cumello was supposed to go to her first National Basketball Association (NBA) game last year. A fan of Golden State sharpshooter Stephen Curry, the 13-year-old was crushed when the tickets her mother purchased for the Warriors' road game in New York last March were rendered useless as the NBA put its season on hold due to COVID-19. Cumello and her mother were among the 2,000 fans ready to watch the New York Knicks take on the Warriors, as New York City welcomed ticketholders at live sports events for the first time since the pandemic brought sports to a halt nearly a year ago.
With Stephen Curry struggling to make baskets, Draymond Green gave Golden State a boost of energy. The Warriors needed everything he could muster. Green scored on two late dunks to start the decisive final run, defended hard and found a way to corral loose balls in the closing minutes as Golden State scored six straight points to finally fend off the Indiana Pacers 111-107 on Wednesday night.
