Jamaal Williams opts for Saints over Bills

Running back Jamaal Williams has chosen to sign with the New Orleans Saints.

According to Saints Wire, the former Detroit Lions rusher has inked a three-year deal with his new team.

Just prior to the free agency market officially opening in the NFL on Wednesday, the Bills reportedly had interest in Williams.

Previously with the Green Bay Packers, Williams skipped over to the Lions in 2021. The 27-year-old had a fantastic season last year, surpassing the thousand-yard plateau (1,066), averaging 4.1 yards per carry with 17 touchdowns which led the NFL.

While Williams did not sign in Buffalo, there are still options for the Bills if they so chose to add a veteran from the free agency pool.

Among those is Devin Singletary. In targeting Williams, Buffalo would have been looking for a Singletary replacement, who was one of Buffalo’s own free agents.

However, as the team showed with safety Jordan Poyer, they have no issue circling back around to some of their players who test the open market.

Bills Wire will continue to provide all free agency updates as information is made available.
