Jake Paul signs multi-fight boxing deal with Showtime Sports

Whether we like it or not, Jake Paul is going to continue getting big-time boxing matches. Paul reportedly signed a deal with Showtime Sports for multiple fights, according to ESPN's Marc Raimondi.

Paul, 24, previously signed a multi-fight deal with Triller, but completed that contract with his fight against Ben Askren. His first Showtime opponent has not been decided yet, though Paul's adviser Nakisa Bidarian said he was in advanced talks regarding an opponent, date and location of Paul's next fight.

Paul is undefeated in his career as a boxer, though hasn't fought anyone with professional boxing experience yet. He defeated fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA guard Nate Robinson and Askren.

Will Jake Paul face better opponents on Showtime?

Paul's deal with Showtime could lead to more fights against higher-quality opponents. Showtime has a history of airing fights with big-name fighters, including Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. The network could want Paul to take on some bigger names in or to deliver customers more appealing fights.

Then again, the quality of Paul's opponent might not matter. Paul rose to fame on YouTube, where he has 20.4 million followers. That, combined with Paul's antics away from the ring, has made Paul a popular figure in the boxing world. His fans want to see him dominate opponents. His critics want to see Paul get embarrassed by more experienced fighters.

It's unclear how far Paul will go in his boxing career, but his fights on Showtime should draw eyes, at least in the short term.
