Jahmyr Gibbs lands with Dallas Cowboys in latest 2023 NFL mock draft

Jahmyr Gibbs only spent one season at Alabama after transferring into the program from Georgia Tech, which is where he played his first two seasons of college football. While with the Crimson Tide, the spotlight shined bright onto Gibbs as he became the heart of the team’s offense.

As the leading rusher and receiver of the team, Gibbs worked his way into the national conversation as one of the top offensive prospects for the 2023 NFL draft. Most analysts have Gibbs as the second-highest-rated running Bach behind Texas‘ Bijan Robinson.

Patrick Conn of College Sports Wire recently revealed his latest 2023 mock draft, which features Gibbs being selected No. 26 overall to the Dallas Cowboys, which would be an interesting fit.

“The Cowboys recently parted ways with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard signed his franchise tag,” writes Conn, “Gibbs gives them a solid one-two punch at the position and he provides playmaking ability as a return specialist.”

As Conn notes, the tandem of Elliott and Pollard was broken up after the Cowboys released the former Ohio State star running back. Bringing in Gibbs wouldn’t be an exact replacement for Elliott, however, as Gibbs’ skillset is more versatile and less like a power back.

Gibbs, as a ball carrier and pass catcher, would likely thrive as the star of the backfield, similar to how Najee Harris transitioned into the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Gibbs and other former Alabama players as the 2023 NFL draft approaches.
