Once again, the Jaguars struggled quite a bit on both sides of the ball in a 23-13 loss to Denver. Though the defense played a bit better, it gave up more passing yards than it did in Week 1, and while the offense led by Trevor Lawrence had a hot start, it quickly cooled when the unit started playing from behind.

After losing to the team many thought would be the worst in football last week, Jacksonville dropped to the bottom spot in the USA TODAY NFL power rankings from Nate Davis. In the loss to the Broncos, the Jags didn’t do much to convince Davis to move them anywhere else.

In the latest update, the Jaguars still rank 32nd in the league, just behind the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions. Here’s what Davis had to say about Jacksonville’s performance.

QB Trevor Lawrence and Wilson, the top two picks of the 2021 draft, respectively, will be forever tied together … though being deadlocked for the league lead with five INTs after two weeks wasn’t what these franchise saviors exactly had in mind.

While Lawrence’s play has certainly been erratic, it’s not the team’s biggest problem. That would be the play of the secondary and Jacksonville’s failure to establish much run support for Lawrence. It’s asking the rookie to do a lot right now, and while his gunslinging tendencies have resulted in some gorgeous throws, they have also caused too many turnovers.

The Jags have a lot to figure out moving forward, and if they don’t show a spark soon, they will almost certainly be heading for their fourth-straight top-10 pick.
