Here are Jaguars highest graded players from Week 5, per Pro Football Focus

Jacksonville’s 37-19 loss to the division rival Tennessee Titans may not have offered much in the way of fanfare, but it did include a few of the best performances from Jaguars players this season, namely James Robinson. He had his best game all year with 18 carries for 149 yards (8.3 yards per carry) and a touchdown.

That was good enough to be the Jags’ highest-graded player this week, according to the metrics from Pro Football Focus, grading out at 86.0.

He’s followed close behind by Josh Allen, who earned an 85.3 grade on Sunday. Allen is a third-year player who is looking to bounce back from a bit of a sophomore slump in 2020, and his effort against the Titans was a solid start. He totaled seven tackles with half a sack and two hits on the quarterback.

However, outside of those two, there wasn’t much to write home about. The next highest-graded player was another pass rusher in Dawuane Smoot, who had 1.5 sacks, but he only graded out at 70.3, with every other Jags player finishing below the 70 threshold.

Center Brandon Linder (69.8) and receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (67.2) round out the top five. Linder had to exit the game late with what appeared to be a leg injury, while Shenault was only targeted three times even without D.J. Chark Jr. available. He was able to snag just one of those three targets, but it went for 58 yards.

While the performances from Robinson and Allen, who is expected to become a franchise centerpiece on defense, were encouraging, the Jags need stronger performances from the rest of the roster if it wants to avoid another bottom-five league finish in 2021.
