Jaguars CB Chris Claybrooks placed on Commissioner Exempt List

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks is going on the NFL’s Commissioner Exempt List, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Claybrooks, 25, was arrested twice during the 2023 offseason and is on the exempt list while the second incident is being tried in court. In April, Claybrook received misdemeanor charges of domestic assault with bodily injury and vandalism. Those charges were eventually dropped in May after a settlement was reached.

In July, he was arrested again on charges of domestic battery and false imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty to those charges earlier this month and is due to next appear in court on Sept. 11.

While on the exempt list, Claybrooks may not practice or attend games. He also won’t count against the Jaguars’ 53-man active roster.

Claybrooks was a seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft and earned snaps early in his career at cornerback, but has since settled into a role on special teams as a gunner. He has 81 career tackles with one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery.
