Jacque Vaughn is the next head coach for the Nets, not Ime Udoka I The Rush

The Nets blew out the Knicks even without Kyrie Irving and they also named interim coach Jacque Vaughn as their official head coach going forward, not suspended Celtics coach Ime Udoka. Over in the NFL, a couple of big name quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford are day-to-day and could miss playing time.

- Durant off the cross, the fake, got it!

JARED QUAY: The New York Knicks might have gotten off to a slightly better start to the NBA season, but the Brooklyn Nets made a statement last night.

- Durant puts it on the deck, floats it. In, and a foul!

JARED QUAY: No Kyrie, no problemo. Especially when you have Kevin Durant. He was feeling it so much before tip off, he booed some young Knicks fans. The win was nice, but their coaching situation just took another turn.

- Tell me more.

JARED QUAY: The Brooklyn Nets have named their next head coach, and it is not Ime Udoka.

- Ooh, plot twist.

JARED QUAY: Tell me about it. The Nets have lifted the interim coach title from Jacque Vaughn and appointed him as the official head coach. We went from Steve Nash losing his mind during a game against the Bucks to Nash getting fired and Vaughn stepping in as the interim coach, to reports that suspended Celtics coach Ime Udoka would be hired by the Nets.

- Scandalous!

JARED QUAY: And just so we're all caught up, Ime was suspended by the Celtics for reportedly having an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff. Nets ownership already have their hands full with Kyrie suspension for promoting a film with anti-Semitic themes, so adding Ime's baggage to the mix would probably be just too much for one franchise to deal with.

- Eh, too much baggage.

JARED QUAY: Whoo! I'm out of breath just saying all of that. Good luck, Lacque, because he is clearly going to need it.

JACQUE VAUGHN: I said to my wife, I might have not been her first choice, and we've been together 20 years. So, you know, it could all work out.

JARED QUAY: The NFL season is a grind, and we're about halfway through. Unfortunately, injuries are a huge part of the game, and a couple of big name quarterbacks are currently day to day. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is in concussion protocol after being sacked four times and hit eight times on Sunday against the Bucs.

- We'll keep Matthew Stafford out, we'll put him in the concussion protocol. What ended up happening was, Reggie and his group doing their kind of clean up after the game. You ask the questions, and you do the right follow-ups, and determine that they felt like that was the best thing for him.

JARED QUAY: The Bills might have to face the 7 and 1 Vikings without Josh Allen, because he's dealing with an elbow injury on his throwing arm.

- We will see how he does. We use common sense, and obviously we factor a lot of things into it. The medical report being one of them, and our doctors' wisdom and knowledge.

JARED QUAY: Both McVay and McDermott have some things in common. They're both named Sean, they both have Mc at the beginning of their last names, and they both also look kind of sad. Understandably so, when you might be without your star quarterbacks. Hopefully, Allen and Stanford return soon to turn their coaches' frown upside down.
