The Jacksonville Jaguars will be more disciplined as a team in 2017

Even though the the Jaguars made one of the most improvements to their team out of every team in the NFL, if there is one thing that should be a guaranteed fix is the culture. After they decided to promote Doug Marrone to head coach and bring in Tom Coughlin as their executive vice president of football operations, you could easily notice that the Jags were going to be a different team. Coughlin has always been a disciplined man and Marrone was a disciplinarian head coach when he was with the Buffalo and led them to their first winning season in 2014 since 2004.

We look at the different acquisitions that the Jags picked up this year. Leonard Fournette was the biggest one they got through the draft and Calais Campbell was the biggest pickup for them through free agency. They especially stacked up on defense in their secondary. A team can have great players added to their team, but what good are they if there is no discipline?

Coughlin and Marrone are looking to turn around the organization and make them compete. The Jaguars show signs of potential each year, but they seem to come up short almost every time. Having the right people in charge will make a difference which is why you should not be surprised to see the Jags as a more disciplined team in 2017.

The defense looks strong this year and the offense is on the rise. If Marrone and Coughlin can keep all eleven players on the field and improve Blake Bortles’ game, the Jaguars should do great things this year. A team that is disciplined is a team that plays every down until the whistle blows and minimizes mistakes.

Whether it’s containing opposing offenses’ on third down situations, minimizing interceptions and fumbles or playing with intensity, the Jags should have the discipline to compete. It may take a little time, but it should happen. Having a young team, Marrone and Coughlin will know exactly what to do in order to be successful.
