Jacks nearly summit 18-point halftime deficit in tight loss at Fergus Falls

Jan. 9—FERGUS FALLS — The Bemidji High School girls basketball team dug itself a big hole against Fergus Falls on Tuesday night.

Facing the Otters on the road, the Lumberjacks fell down 28-10 at the half. And despite a valiant comeback in the second half, they couldn't get their heads above water again, losing by a slim 46-44 margin.

Bemidji (6-6) more than tripled its offensive output in the final frame, and it was almost enough to summit an 18-point halftime deficit. The Jacks got scoring from several players. Anysia Pink led the way with 12 points, followed by Karley LaZella with 10. Clara Bieber chipped in seven, Katey Milbrandt added six and Matjea Malterud managed five.

Brynn Sternberg paced the Otters (8-3) with 16 points. Hattie Fullhart added 10, and Ruby Ellison contributed nine.
