Grizzlies star Ja Morant to miss game vs. Celtics with ankle sprain originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Memphis Grizzlies will be without their best player when they face the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is expected to miss the next three to five weeks with a Grade 2 ankle sprain, the team announced Tuesday

Morant suffered the injury in Monday night's game versus the Brooklyn Nets. He was contesting a shot and landed on Nets guard Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot's foot. Morant was in immediate pain and had to be taken to the locker room in a wheelchair.

Morant is not the only notable Memphis player sidelined due to injury. Another one is Jaren Jackson Jr. The No. 4 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft suffered a torn meniscus during the league's restart in the bubble over the summer. He is out indefinitely.

The Grizzlies were still able to beat the Nets 116-111 despite losing Morant, although Brooklyn was resting its two superstars in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

The Celtics have won nine consecutive games versus the Grizzlies dating back to the 2015-16 season.
