J.J. Watt endorses 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans as Texans coach

Count J.J. Watt as someone who wants to see DeMeco Ryans on the sidelines inside NRG Stadium.

The former three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year took to Twitter and reacted to the news that the Houston Texans had completed an interview with Ryans for their coaching vacancy.

“As rookie in Houston, I bought my first house across the street from DeMeco because if Meco thought it was the right place to live, it was the right place to live for me,” Watt tweeted Friday night. “Captain, leader, smart, tough, personable, crushed it as DC… He will be a great head coach.”

Watt played with Ryans in 2011 only. The former Texans second-round pick from Alabama played with Houston from 2006-11 and then later with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2012-15.
