The Arizona Cardinals have lost three straight games and have had offensive struggles. They haven’t scored more than 16 points in their last two games.

But the consistent theme from coaches and players is that the problems are self-inflicted. It isn’t what others are doing to them.

Receiver A.J. Green echoed that sentiment on Friday when he spoke with reporters.

“We’re close,” he said. “If you watch the game, there are really no teams that really stop us. We kill ourselves with penalties and little things like that so we’ve got to clean some things up.

“It’s just a rough patch in the season that everybody goes through. We’re going to be fine.”

If the Cardinals turn things around and get going again offensively the way they were for most of the season in the final two games, they will be fine.

They will be capable of beating anyone if they are playing efficiently on offense.

The problem is there are only two games left. Doing it against a very tough Cowboys team this weekend would go a long way. Teams want to be playing their best football as the postseason approaches. The Cardinals have been playing their worst ball in December.

If they get back on track now in January, we all will look back at this recent stretch as just “a rough patch” like Green says it is. But if the problems continue, it will be known as a collapse.
