IUK baseball sweeps Brescia

Apr. 7—OWENSBORO, Ky. — The IU Kokomo baseball team improved to 15-3 in the River States Conference and 27-13 overall Saturday when the Cougars swept a doubleheader at Brescia to take all three games in the league series. The Cougars won Saturday's first game 12-10 and won the second 18-5 in seven innings.

In Saturday's opener Kasey Ross went 2 for 3 with three RBI, Jacob Medvescek hit a two-run homer, and Tucker Platt also drove in two runs. Jack Leverenz and Luke Harrison each had two hits. Reliever Asa Christie got the win and Victor Fujiu got the save.

IUK scored in every inning of the closer. Medvescek was 3 for 4 with three RBI, Platt was 2 for 4 with three RBI, Ross was 2 for 3 with two RBI, and Dylan Janke drove in two runs. Starter Alec Murphy pitched four innings for the win.

The Cougars are second in the RSC. Next for IUK is a three-game Friday-Saturday RSC home series against IU Southeast.
