Islanders head coach Barry Trotz said he was unhappy with the team's first period during New York's 3-2 overtime loss to Philadelphia which extends the team's losing streak to four games. Forward Jordan Eberle and center Matt Barzal thought the response in the second and third periods which led to the team's comeback was thanks to the strength of their defense. Eberle scored his third goal of the season. Defenseman Scott Mayfield scored his first goal of the year to tie the game up off Barzal's fifth assist of the season.
