The NHL announced this year’s group of All-Stars on Thursday night, and one Islander made the cut: defenseman Adam Pelech.

For the 27-year-old Pelech, the All-Star selection is the first of his career.

In 24 games this season, Pelech has five points from his defensive position. In his 327 games overall as an Islander, Pelech has recorded 80 points and leads the team with a +46 rating.

Pelech will be the Islanders’ lone representative at this year’s All-Star Weekend, which will take place in Las Vegas in early February, with the Skills Challenge set for Feb. 4 and the All-Star Game the next night.
