GAME PREVIEW

ATK are in a sticky situation, with anything less than three points sure to end their slim hopes of qualifying for the play-offs. They had boosted their hopes after picking a 2-1 win over Jamshedpur FC but dropped points against FC Pune City (2-2) and FC Goa (3-0 loss) have put them in a difficult spot.

They currently have 21 points from 16 games. Hence, not only does Steve Coppell need his side to win both their remaining matches, the Kolkata franchise would also need favours from whoever faces Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC.

Injuries to key players such as Pronay Halder and Manuel Lanzarote in the last couple of games visibly hampered ATK's momentum. It was beginning to look good when Edu Garcia began developing an understanding with Lanzarote. But now Garcia might have to lead the charge in attack with Kalu Uche for company.

Everton Santos, who picked a knock in the last match, could be doubtful for this tie. Meanwhile, Andre Bikey could be tasked with breaking up play in midfield. Defensively, it will be up to John Johnson and Arnab Mondal once again to hold off Mumbai City's talented attackers.

Mumbai City, who looked to be cruising through to the play-offs, have fallen into a rut with three straight losses leaving them hanging on for an opportunity to reach the play-offs.

Jorge Costa's side started their downward slide at the hands of FC Goa which was followed by defeats against play-off aspirants Jamshedpur (1-0) and NorthEast United (2-0).

They are on 27 points with two games to go. With ATK and Jamshedpur FC still mathematically in with a chance to reach the top-four, Mumbai cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to remain dependant on themselves to make it through to the next round. A win on Friday will definitely send them through and eliminate ATK.

Lucian Goian will be available for selection after serving his suspension. The concerns in attack will have to be addressed too, with the likes of Moudou Sougou and Rafael Bastos failing to score in the last three outings.
