Isaac Okoro says he interviewed with five teams, including Wizards originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

With a need for perimeter defense, the Wizards have interviewed Auburn's Isaac Okoro, one of the best defensive wings in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Okoro met with the media on Wednesday ahead of next week's draft. The Wizards hold the No. 9 pick and Okoro is expected to fall in the top-10.

Okoro, 19, is listed at 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds. He was All-SEC as a freshman last season, averaging 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. He shot 51.4 percent from the field, but just 28.6 percent from three.

Okoro's defense, however, is what stands out the most. He's a physical wing with the build of an NFL linebacker. He could add a physical presence to the perimeter, not unlike a Lu Dort or Marcus Smart.

The Wizards have needs up and down the roster on defense, but the wing certainly stands out. They gave up the fourth-highest three-point percentage last year, at 37.6.

Okoro could fit well in Washington because they wouldn't need him to do much offensively, at least at first. He could stick to his strengths and give them an element they currently do not have.

"I could see myself playing at the three, playing defense and running in transition and getting fastbreak points," Okoro said of potential fit in Washington.

Okoro has worked out with the Warriors, Timberwolves and Cavaliers. In addition to the Wizards, he has also interviewed with the Knicks, Bulls, Spurs and Hawks.
