In their second of three meetings this season, the Trail Blazers went into Los Angeles looking to even up their season series with the Clippers, and to hand the Clips just their second home loss of the season.
It was a tough task, but the Blazers seemed up for the challenge, at least for the first half; however, the Clippers showed why they are one of the best teams in the league by taking over in the second half.
FINAL BOX SCORE: Clippers 117, Blazers 97
Here are three quick takeaways from the Blazers loss:
1. Strong Dame and Whiteside connection
The Blazers pick and roll between Damian Lillard and Hassan Whiteside was on point to start the game. Lillard got Whiteside involved early and often. The two connected on a successful lob as Whiteside looked in his element throwing down the big jam. The Blazers seemed to go away from the pick and roll in the second half. But, of course the credit also goes to LA's defense.
2. Hot shooting night for Blazers' starters & Clippers bench once again
The Blazers kept up with LA through the first two quarters in big thanks to Lillard and CJ McCollum. Lillard shined bright early in LA, dazzling the crowd by taking it hard to the rim, as well as draining deep threes.

Lillard and McCollum combined for 25 of the Blazers' 59 first-half points.
With the starters keeping the Blazers in the game, the Clippers bench, who leads the league in scoring, showed off their scoring prowess on Tuesday night vs. the Blazers.
LA's bench outscored Portland's 34-12 in the first half.
3. Clippers defense clamps down in second half
The Clippers wore down the Blazers by the fourth quarter. Between Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Patrick Beverley, Maurice Harkless, and Montrezl Harrell, this is a tough squad to get buckets against. Portland sat its starters and unloaded its bench with seven and a half minutes remaining in the game being down by 22 points.
