Injury Report: Klay Thompson (knee soreness) to start vs. Mavericks on Tuesday

After missing a pair of games against the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz, Klay Thompson is set to return on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

In the pregame press conference on Tuesday, Steve Kerr announced Thompson would play and start against the Mavericks after missing the last two games.

Thompson’s absence against the Rockets was expected on the second-leg of a back-to-back. However, Thompson was ruled out for his second consecutive game with knee soreness on Sunday against the Jazz.

The Warriors will likely continue to be patient and cautious with anything around Thompson’s knee and Achilles as he makes his return from injuries that caused him to miss two consecutive seasons. The 31-year-old’s quick return to Golden State’s lineup is a positive sign for his recovery.

Through six games into his long-awaited return, Thompson is averaging 14.7 points on 37.2% shooting from the floor with 2.8 rebounds and two assists in 21.3 minutes per game.

To help slow down Luka Doncic and the red-hot Mavericks, the Warriors could use a spark from Thompson on the offensive end of the floor on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at San Francisco’s Chase Center on Tuesday evening.
