Teri Moren wanted to take a foreign trip to help grow her team.
Wednesday, she got her wish.
IU women's basketball announced a trip to Italy from Aug. 2-11 that'll take the Hoosiers from Indiana to Rome, Vatican City, Florence, Pisa and Venice for a work-related vacation. The itinerary features three games against Italian clubs.
The trip marks the first of its kind since Indiana also went to Italy in 2009. The NCAA allows for one foreign trip every four years, meaning each typical graduating class can participate in one.
The NCAA rules allow 10 practice days before heading to Italy where games and practices will form the bulk of the trip. Those practices in the U.S. will take place at the end of July.
"We are so excited to give our team this opportunity to play international competition and to see a new part of the world," IU head coach Teri Moren said in a team release. This is going to be a tremendous team builder for our players and staff and we are looking forward to departing in August."
